The one of the most affluent residential communities in Orlando is the area known as Dr. Phillips. Dr. Phillips was founded by Orlando native, Dr. Phillip Phillips, who was a citrus magnate, making his fortune by growing oranges for juices and harvesting, and he became one of Orlando’s first millionaires. The township of Dr. Phillips was named in honor of his great accomplishments and dedication to the area. The area is now approximately 5,000 acres in Southwest Orlando.
Today, Dr. Phillips is an area known for much more than former citrus groves but as an area with some of the finest housing opportunities available—from single-family homes to large estates—as well as award-winning school districts and some of the cleanest freshwater lakes in the state.
Bay Hill Country Club and Orange Tree Country Club are prominent communities where many of Dr. Phillips’ 40,000 residents live. Dr. Phillips also has its own shopping center, post office, a high rise office complex and a number of small local parks. Not to mention that the entire town is only ten minutes from Disney and only 20 minutes from the Downtown Orlando area, making Dr. Phillips an ideal community to live, work and play.
